PROGRAM PROFILE

Authorized by Ministry of Commerce, P. R. China, International Poverty Reduction Center in China will organize “Seminar on Poverty Reduction through Informationlization ,Filing and Archiving for Developing Countries in 2017”(2017.04.14—2017.04.28). The working language of the seminar is English. The seminar will introduce “Informationlization, Filing and Archiving”, targeting at the demands rural development and poverty reduction, the project is mainly about the construction of rural informatization infrastructure and rural information market (such as labor market and product market), e-commerce-based poverty alleviation and rural poor household filing and archiving, covering rural informatization infrastructure construction and specific measures for informatization poverty alleviation, especially the process and management of poor household filing and archiving. It introduces relevant experience, analyzes the problems and explores solutions. Through the special lectures, case study and field survey, the program aims to enable the officials of developing countries to understand China’s rural informatization poverty alleviation and filing and archiving system and mode and explore ways to improve developing countries’ poverty reduction system and improve their ability to formulate and implement poverty reduction policy. The project is divided into four parts, namely workshop, country presentation, case study and field visit. The workshop will invite relevant experts of Chinese government departments and research institutes to give lectures on the content framework and implementation mechanism of China’s rural informatization poverty alleviation and filing and archiving, focusing on the construction of rural informatization infrastructure and the measures for rural informatization poverty alleviation. Country presentation will mainly arrange the participants to introduce the informatization poverty reduction policies and practices of their respective countries, analyze the problems facing their countries in the development of informatization poverty alleviation in order to achieve sustainable poverty reduction, and promote the exchange between participants from different countries in the field of informatization poverty alleviation. As for case study, government officials from relevant provinces / autonomous regions will be invited to introduce local governments’ specific projects to promote the development of informatization poverty alleviation and filing and archiving. Field visit will be organized in Guizhou Province of China, focusing on the study of Guizhou’s big data projects, rural informatization poverty alleviation measures and poor households filing and archiving. The seminar will promote the development of informatization poverty alleviation and filing and archiving and form long-term and sustainable poverty reduction.

INTRODUCTION TO ORGANIZER

International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC) is an international anti-poverty institute jointly initiated and established in June 2005 by the government of the People’s Republic of China and the United Nations Development Programme and other international organizations. The mission of IPRCC is to make contributions to poverty alleviation across the world by conducting poverty reduction studies, sharing development experiences, promoting international exchange and South-South cooperation and introducing foreign capital to poverty alleviation. As an international platform in the field of poverty alleviation & development and also an important channel for the Chinese Government to carry out South-South cooperation, IPRCC provides developing countries and other relevant agencies with services from the following five aspects:1) Conduct research on domestic and international poverty reduction policies and theories, and popularize research outputs; 2) Carry out international poverty reduction trainings and poverty reduction knowledge sharing with other developing countries; 3) Organize international forums, conferences, exchange visits and relevant activities; 4) Carry out international poverty alleviation cooperation and undertake developing-countries-oriented poverty alleviation projects sponsored by the Chinese government; 5) Manage poverty alleviation projects with foreign capital and bring in international funds and advanced experience to assist China’s poverty alleviation and development.
